The Great Guitar Build-off
Rob Ritzenhein
Hi! I'm 39 years old. I'm from Romeo, Michigan in the US. I played guitar and bass in high school and picked up playing again a bit over a year ago. I quickly got into modding and building, starting with a pawn shop restoration and mod and completing my first build from a blank in September last year. We live in a home built in the late 1800's and there's lots of scrap material tucked away in random places. My goal is to build as much of the guitar as possible from materials that have been a part of this home since it was built. The guitar will be inspired by the Esquire with similarly voiced wiring with three-way switch, a single neck pickup and tele-style body. I hope to build the bridge plate, control plate and neck plate (unless I got with ferrules) from scratch from materials harvested from the property. I plan to have a roasted maple neck built by Warmoth, either a reverse tele style or an hombre. The feel and design will be dictated by what materials I can gather. There are plenty! :D
