The Great Guitar Build-off
Roald Lopez
Luthier from Miami, I have been actively learning how to make guitars for about 2 years with my best friend. My interest first began when I was about 13 years old and wanted to refinish my squire Strat, later I would go on to refinish my epiphone Les Paul (neither would come out very good). My best friend had also been trying his hand at luthierie and suggested we work today to offer repairs and custom builds, together we've built about ten or so scratch builds! The theme of my scratch build for the GGBO will be an arctic river guitar. A wood and epoxy body with soft colors of white and light translucent blue. You will be able to see the crystal clear river flow through the glacier ice canyon under the guitar top. Using the least amount of hardware possible on the body so as to not obscure the piece's design, this build will truly be the minimalist's choice!
