My name is Ben, I've been building electric guitars in my home workshop for around 3 years and have built 3 scratch guitars so far. My build for the GGBO will be called "The Geode" (most likely). For the top of the body I'll be using a STUNNING piece of burl Red Mallee from Australia that when wet/oiled, looks almost like the cavernous insides of a living organism. This will be recessed into the body so you can see main body wood. The body will be Ash stained with black stain but allowing some colours to show through (reds, blues). I also want to inlay gold, silver and copper leaf in small veins around the body. The idea is that you're looking into a geode where the insides look organic. I'll do a multi laminate neck (woods to be decided still) with a Ziricote fretboard and continuing the Red Mallee around the fretboard as binding. I will also include the Red Malley in some way on the headstock, tbd! I've not made final decisions in the hardware just yet, inspiration hasn't hit me on this!
