I'm a 42-year old Norwegian. Built my first guitar at 16, but life has gotten in the way of really taking my guitar/building to the next level. My wife has given me 5 hours a week for instrument-building (about to finish up a violin) which is not a lot, but hopefully I'll get a little more when the toddler gets older. We need a bass for our album, me and my wife, so I plan to build a very simple 5-string neck thru electric bass. I have a plank of mahogany that sounds nice and some cheap single string bridges and cheap tuners that has been lying around for a long time. I haven't decided on fretboard yet. I have been thinking of a slight fan, but we'll see. I might make the pickup myself. My first focus will be on function, light weight and unfortunately on building speed. Going for a little futuristic design. This buildoff sounds like fun, so let's do it!
