I have been building custom guitars for several years and it all started when I first got sober and really needed something enjoyable to do to fill all the time I had once spent challenging the limits of my liver. I found designing and building guitars to be extremely satisfying and have worked constantly to hone my craft and I have really become a better person for it.
My kit build entry is a beat-up and unplayable old Washburn Mercury that has been abused and neglected for the past 25 years. It was given to me by a friend and I saw it as an opportunity to challenge myself. I will be taking that guitar and transforming it into something completely new and beautiful and above all, playable.
My scratch build entry is one being built for a client. It is a Flying V-style guitar with a twist. The client wants to be able to play it with a 3/4 cello bow. So I will be combining the shape of the V with the specs of a modern guitarviol and adding a few unique features to really set it apart. I've made fretboards with compound radii before but never anything quite like I'll have to create with this one. The bottom line is that it will be super cool and completely unique.
My YouTube channel has just been created and I have yet to add content. But I will do my best to make some interesting and entertaining videos.
